What Do You Need For A Blueberry Mojito?

You only need a handful of ingredients for this refreshing summer co*cktail, so check your fridge or freezer! Scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the post for full ingredient amounts.

    • Fresh blueberries – Frozen blueberries are okay too use if you thaw them first.
    • Simple syrup – Feel free to use raw honey or agave as well.
    • Fresh mint leaves – It’s not really a mojito without mint, but you can always leave it out.
    • Lime juice – Lemon juice will work in a pinch, but lime gives you the best zesty flavor.
    • White rum
    • Club soda – You can use sparkling water instead.

What Alcohol Goes In A Mojito?

White rum is the best kind for mojitos. It’s also referred to as “silver” or “blanco,” depending on the brand. Aged rum works too but it will give your co*cktail a hint of smokiness.

    Tips for Success

You’ll feel like a professional bartender with these easy tips that’ll take your mojito to the next level.

    • Strain it. If you’re not into bits of fruit skin, strain the puréed blueberries for a smooth co*cktail.
    • Add food coloring. A drop of blue food coloring can make your blueberry mojito a beautiful electric blue.
    • Use berries. A frozen mix of your favorite berries is a great substitute for blueberries in this recipe.
    • Add compote. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of blueberry compote to each serving glass, add ice, and pour in the mojito for an extra fruity drink.
    • Make minty ice cubes. Chop up 2-4 mint leaves and add them to ice cube trays. Fill them with water. Freeze completely and use the ice cubes to add extra flair to your drink.

    Blueberry Mojito

This 5-minute blueberry mojito is packed with ice, lemon juice, and mint for an ultra refreshing summer co*cktail!

    Prep Time5 minutes minutes

    Total Time5 minutes minutes

    Ingredients

    • ¾ cup fresh blueberries
    • 2 oz simple syrup
    • 12 fresh mint leaves
    • 2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
    • 4 oz white rum
    • 8 oz club soda

    Instructions

    • In a food processor or blender, puree blueberries until smooth. Set aside.

    • In a large highball glass (16 oz), muddle together the simple syrup and mint leaves. (Muddling is a technique used to gently mash herbs and/or fruit to release the essence or juices. I recommend using a muddler for best results, however the back of a wooden spoon can be used in a pinch.)

    • Divide the muddled simple syrup and mint leaves between two highball glasses. In each glass, stir in 2 oz rum, 1 oz lime juice and 2 to 3 tablespoons of the blueberry puree, to taste.

    • Fill glass with ice and then top with club soda. Garnish with mint and blueberries, if desired.
