What You Will Need to Make Cranberry Nut Bread

Supplies and tools:

Ingredients:

(Preheat oven to 350 degrees F)

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • one cup of sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • one tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 Tbls. butter
  • 1 Tbls. orange zest
  • one egg
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries (or dried cranberries)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cranberry, Orange, and Nut Bread Step by Step

In a large bowl, add softened butter and sugar using a pastry blenderto cream them together.

Next, add dry ingredients blend.

Stir in orange zest, orange juice, egg, until well blended.

Fold in chopped cranberries and walnuts (I used pecans).

Pour bread dough into a greased loaf pan (like this one).

Note: This recipe makes 3 to 4 mini loaves.

Place in a preheated 350 oven for 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool 15 minutes in the pan on a wire rack, then turn out the bread onto the cooling rack and cool completely.

Tip: You can freeze fresh cranberries in their bag (do not wash first). I recommend placing the cranberry bag in a freezer bag first.

How to makeFrench Press Coffee:

Recipe for the perfect cup of coffee

1. 4 cups French Press

2. 2 cups of 200 degrees Fahrenheit water

3. 26 grams of whole coffee beans

How I brew the perfect cup of coffee in a French Press is I start with fresh ground coffee and hot water (200 degrees Fahrenheit). First, I pour the fresh ground coffee into the French Press and add enough hot water to cover the grounds.

Then, I stir and let the coffee bloom for one minute. Then, I add the remaining water and stir. I put the lid on and set the timer for 3 minutes.

After the 3 minutes, I push the plunger down and pour the wonderfully fresh coffee into my favorite coffee cups. Enjoy!

Serving coffee and Cranberry Nut Bread:

I serve the bread while still hot from the oven, so coordinating the brewing of the coffee and the bread bake time is imperative to serve both hot.

FAQs

Why does my cranberry bread fall apart? ›

If your cranberry bread is crumbly, it could be because there isn't enough fat or eggs in the batter, or the bread was overbaked. If the recipe you're using provides gram measurements (like mine), then I would highly recommend using them for the most accurate results.

Is cranberry a nut? ›

Cranberries are small, hard, round, red fruits known for their bitter or tart flavor.

Why is my cranberry bread so dense? ›

Make sure that your dough is not too wet or too dry, both extremes will result in a dense crumb. You can check to see if you are using the right amount of water for the type of flour you use (click here to check).

How do you keep homemade bread from falling apart? ›

Knead the Dough Longer – It's possible that the dough just isn't forming enough gluten to support the structure of the bread. We suggested kneading the bread at a low speed for 8-10 minutes and then testing to see if it's done.

Are cranberries good for diabetics? ›

The United States Department of Agriculture reported that two glasses of cranberry juice per day could reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. This is due to the polyphenols contained in cranberries which protect cells from damage and disease.

Are cranberries good for your liver? ›

Berries. Many dark berries — including blueberries, raspberries, and cranberries — contain antioxidants called polyphenols, which may help protect the liver from damage.

Are cranberries healthier than blueberries? ›

The cranberry is also a contender when it comes to antioxidant content. While wild blueberries outperform them when it comes to measuring both antioxidant capacity and cellular antioxidant activity, cranberries pack their own health punch.

Why does my bread fall apart easily? ›

Too much flour and not enough water can cause crumbly bread – people often do this if the dough is too sticky and they add more flour rather than kneading through it. Other culprits can be overproving or not kneading enough – the things you need to do to get a good structure.

What causes bread to break apart? ›

If the dough was too dry it can form a crust too early before it's had time to rise, then when it begins to rise it forms cracks which then burst in odd places when the pressure builds up. Steam is important in this stage of baking of some breads like sourdoughs so it's a good thing to try and use steam.

Why is my bread dough pulling apart? ›

The underdeveloped gluten molecules will cause your dough to flop around and tear easily. While underworked dough can simply be fixed by a little more kneading, severely overworked dough cannot be fixed. Instead, the overworked dough will result in a hard loaf that will likely not be eaten.
